I have a PS3 that was brought to me looking for repair. The user was someone who had no idea what he was doing with attempting to downgrade his system.
The problem is that he was already running 3.56 and had placed the system into factory service mode using an E3 card reader. On top of that, he decided that to try and get out of FSM by installing an (3.56 or 3.60, not sure) update from a USB stick, which results in a red screen.
Now when you turn the system on, all you see is a message about the update having been cancelled, and that it is trying to resume. The progress bar nudges up twice, not moving from 0% though, and then immediately displays the red screen.
My question is this: Can this be fixed via Progskeet or E3 Flasher? Some places mention needing a good dump from when the system was in good working order. If this is true, then this system is screwed. But if I can buy a Progskeet or E3 and fix this one, and possibly others, as well as being able to downgrade other working systems, then I will buy it. Otherwise, I don't see it being worth me spending ~$150 without being able to immediately make SOME of my money back. It would be more worth-it to have Sony repair it.
