Describe your problem: I had YLOD about three weeks ago, determined it was a soldering issue and decided to fix it myself because I am out of warranty already. Cracked it open, followed a youtube video, used a heatgun, and applied some Dynex thermal paste (which I now know is ****). Put it back together and it worked great until this week. 2 days ago I got YLOD again, and figured it was the bad thermal paste or not using the heatgun for long enough, so I cracked it open again, heated the cpu/gpu for about 10 minutes each and applied some Antec paste. When I put the system back together it doesn't turn on. The Red standby light is on, but the system will not turn on at all.
What have you tried to do to resolve this issue yourself: Reopened the ps3, checked the ribbon connector from the mobo to the power switch board. Tried lifting the metal sensors on power board in case they were not making contact with the buttons. Still, the system does not turn on.
I can't afford a new system so I'm deadset on fixing this one. My initial thought is that the sensors on the power switch board are dead since the standby light is still on. But, you all obviously know more than I.
Any help on the issue is much appreciated!!
