This is from an older thread, but my solution is not listed. I have the famous, "somebody put a screw in the wrong hole and cut the USB trace" problem
I am good with a soldering iron and I have the issue with the CECH-E01.
The trace got severed on the board because some put a screw in the wrong place.
I fixed the trace and the continuity is good from front to back. I've changed the daughter board that has the wireless, changed the wireless adapter, changed the ribbon cable that connects the daughter board to the PS3 Main board, tried multiple controllers and everything..
Could all four ports be burned out because of the trace being severed and reconnected improperly? (i had to take the solder off because I was getting continuity from the trace next to it, I re-applied the solder and now continuity is good between the two of them.
All four ports do not work.
I am looking for help with
1. Hard wiring the usb cord to the motherboard of the PS3. ( I would need to know the points on the board to solder the wires from the USB charging cable when I cut it.
2. Finding a controller that will never need to be plugged in to a usb port (probably does not exist)
3. Any advice on what else could be wrong.
ALSO, I would not mind soldering a new usb port and letting it hang out of the case, I just do not know where to solder it to this particluar board..
My email is sleyeguy111 @yahoo .com
Please help me.. My PS3 powers up but I can't do anything and it's driving me mad lol.
Thank you all in advance.
