Alright, so I will start with some specs/background on my situation before I go into my questions. I currently have the following:
- Fat 80gb PS3, CECHK-01
- FW 3.60
- An empty 80gb HD in the console
- Already opened and re-applied thermal paste to heatsinks
Anyhow..I've had this broken PS3 sitting around for a couple of years now and haven't tackled fixing it, but decided I'd give it a shot. I know that nothing is guaranteed with RSOD fixes, but I recently found this, which seems promising:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/content/...solution-1920/
So it seems as if this is a possible fix for the RSOD. Also I noticed this was released:
http://www.ps3hax.net/2012/02/ps3-fa...-jig-required/
Which seems to make it even easier to get into FSM without any sort of dongle. I figure my only challenge then, is to get my PS3 downgraded from 3.60 to 3.55. I did some research and found this:
http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=39766
Which tells me that my PS3 would be OK to downgrade using a Teensy++ board:
https://www.pjrc.com/store/teensypp.html
And it then goes on to say you would need a a development board, which if needed, I have a TI-84. But from my understanding, with the new FSM tool v.01 jigless factory service mode, that wouldn't even be needed?
One of my first questions is - right now, it seems as if there is no OS installed, and I go straight to the recovery mode menu but all I can do is restart the system. Do I need to find a 3.60 PUP and install that using a flashdrive in the right-most port first, before anything?
Secondly, would Teensy++ work on downgrading my system, even if I am currently in a RSOD situation? Would it be able to read the NOR although I can't boot into an OS? I understand that soldering would be required and I'm sure I can manage given a proper diagram.
Is it a solid possibility to try and use Teensy++ to hardware downgrade to 3.55, then use the jigless fsm-tool to get into FSM, and use the RSOD fix? I am mostly wondering if the downgrade will even work given the RSOD state of my system.
Any guidance would be appreciated. I could also use more comprehensive guides to wiring Teensy++ if they are available. I don't really wanna pay more than the $24 for the Teensy++ board.
Thanks for reading! I hope someone can chime in..I really wanna try this, and hopefully/maybe this can help others if it works out.
