Selfbuild DLNA-Server

Hi!

I am serching very long but cant find a solution for my Problem! You know the Planet is going down everything is ****ed up... whine and cheese!
So i am trying to minimize my Electrical Power usage buying a PS3 was the First step to that! All in One Multimedia Station and Gaming for estimated 74 Watt (my PC with attached Beamer leech up too 600 Watt) sounded to good to be true and it was the System lacks so i installed a DLNA Server (Ubuntu+miniDLNA) on a old Computer, he sucks away 100 Watt also so i got my Hands on a Igel UD2 which will use max 11 Watt!

Problem is that it is not very powerfull and if i install any linux on it with my dlna server it lags if i watch it on PS3 also it doesnt fastforward/rewind properly, this Machine comes with a 512 MB RAM and 1 GB HDD on 700MHZ xD

I tryed so many different Distributions, Server Editions, mini-Images ect but couldnt find anything which fits my needs! I am curious if its possible to just build a kernel without all the fancy stuff, just linux base system(maybe remove some unecasary parts) and install dlna on it? I also use JDownloader headless over Webinterface with it so i need Java which allready comes with 250+ MB... But i am thinking about pyLoad lately! which only need Pythone and is much smller but doesnt decrypt as much Links as Jdownloader, so if i wanna transfer a new File to it after Download it coest extra Time so haven something like JDwonloader/pyLoad would be great!

Or has any other an Idea how to solve this or nows a very small Linux OS? I really like my Igel, fits perfekt on my Desk and looks nice!
