ps2 game formats ?

hi, i have been reading around and noticed a few different formats for ps2

.bin
.cue

iso

.mdf
.mds



so my question is do all these work on a fat 32 hard drive for a ps2 and witch is the best format ? and does changing the format from iso to one of them make the game smaller in size ?
